Make new work

A few seasons ago my friend Ross gave me a great little book by Austin Kleon titled Show your Work. It took a while but it I read it over twice and it really inspired me.

I emerged from a deep creative rut with a new vigor, and it has not let up. I encourage you to make, create, and show your work off too.

If you write, write. If you paint, paint. But more importantly share it with other people. It could be your work in progress, maybe your environment, just a slice of your process, it doesn’t matter and you don’t have to be precious. Spontaneity is the key, and once it’s out, move on.

My wife has an intense creativity and she expresses herself through her art and her singing. She is also one of the most busiest and active people I know, yet she still finds the time to make and create. This encourages me every day.

If you’re in a slump, read this book.

If you’re fresh out of ideas, try picking up what you would usually never pick up and do that for a while.

Talk less, do more.
